OUR HISTORY
From concerned citizens to an organised continental mission.
CENAHURI P&D was founded by concerned and agitated African citizens of conscience, many of whom were victims of human rights abuses and violations. The founding members established the Centre pursuant to the African Charter of Human and Peoples’ Rights, in search of truth and the protection of the human rights and dignity of every African citizen irrespective of status or position.
The organisation was finally incorporated in 2007 by the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria under Part C, CAMA 1990 as a non-governmental, non-profit, human rights, peace and development-driven organisation.

Education and practical platforms for solutions.
The Centre's stated aim is the innovative provision of Human Rights, Peace and Development educational and enlightenment platforms for practical solutions to human rights violations or threats, threats to peace and deprivation of developmental issues affecting people and societies in Africa and beyond.

Observance of constitutional democracy and adherence to human rights treaties, protocols and conventions assented to by Nigeria and other African countries.

Promotion and protection of Economic, Social, Cultural, Civil and Political Rights.

Independence and protection of the judiciary and electoral processes.

Responsive, responsible, transparent, accountable and participatory governance.

Realisation of the rights of women, girls and vulnerable persons.
F
Access to water, health, sanitation, roads, green energy, finance, markets, shelter, ICT and food and agricultural produce.

Environmental education, conservation, irrigation and tree-planting campaigns.
H
Contribution to the fight against corruption and corruption-related crimes and the menace of drug abuse.
I
Promotion of African family and family values through mediation and reconciliation.
